Radiesse

Are your wrinkles giving away your age?

Natural collagen is what fives skin a smooth supple, youthful appearance. As you age, natural collagen breaks down, resulting in wrinkles and loss of racial volume.

RADIESSE, is volumizing filler, provides an instant lift, filling wrinkles and folds to help restore a more youthful look to our skin. And it continues to work with your body, stimulating the natural production of collagen for a refreshed appearance that can last up to a year or more in many patients.

Radiesse is the latest injectable substance available for cosmetic enhancement to fill in wrinkles and lines, and define facial features such as the nose, cheeks and cheekbones, jawline and chin. Radiesse is made up of microscopic calcium particles (hydroxylapatite) that are naturally found in bone, and suspended in a gel for injection. Radiesse is a safe material also used for dental reconstruction, bone growth and vocal cord injection and has proven to be very compatible with the body. Unlike Collagen it does not require an allergy test and lasts 7 to 12 months or more.

Where can Radiesse be used?

Radiesse can be used for lip enhancement, to improve wrinkles in areas like the smile lines (or nasolabial folds), fix cosmetic defects in the nose, augment and contour the cheeks, enhance the chin and contour the jawline.

Radiesse for Cheekbone Contouring

Some people are born with naturally beautiful cheekbones – many of us aren’t. But Radiesse can give you the cheeks you always wanted. As we age, we start to lose fat in our faces and it is often most noticeable in the cheek area. Radiesse is an ideal filler for adding volume to cheeks because it can be used to treat large surface areas in one procedure. The result is a healthy looking, contoured appearance common in more youthful cheeks. Published independent studies show that a typical treatment for malar and submalar augmentation lasts approximately 18 months to two years, with an occasional touchup recommended.

Radiesse for Nasal Defect Correction and Bridge Augmentation

Radiesse offers a quick, immediate, non-surgical, non-invasive procedure for nasal contouring that no other filler can provide. Commonly known as non-surgical rhinoplasty, Radiesse offers a unique composition that is extremely versatile and can build up the bridge of your nose, or camouflage a hump, (straightening your profile); balance an asymmetry, or correct defects and shape the nose tip. And with this injectable filler, you don’t have to wait to see results – they are immediate and long-lasting.

Radiesse for Chin and Jawline Contouring

Radiesse™ has also been used very effectively to augment a weak chin and is a non-surgical option to a chin implant. The result is a smoother, firmer chin that complements your other facial features.

Additionally, as skin loses elasticity over time and gravity pulls facial muscles downward, the jaw line is one of the most common facial areas where aging becomes apparent. Radiesse is an excellent choice to re-shape and contour the jaw line and chin. The result is a smoother, firmer jaw line that mirrors the younger-looking appearance of other facial areas treated with Radiesse.

How long does Radiesse last?

Radiesse FN usually lasts 7 to 12 months and beyond. According to a recent independent study comparing various facial fillers, Radiesse can last up to 18 months when used for facial contouring such as the nose, cheeks and jawline. To maintain the best results touch ups may be recommended after the first four months.

What are the side effects of Radiesse (Radiance)?

Normal side effects include swelling and in very rare cases tiny calcium deposits may rise to the surface of the skin and appear like small white bumps. If this occurs the deposits can easily be excised and removed.

How does Radiesse compare to Collagen or other injectables?

The advantage of using Radiesse is the potential for long lasting effect. Radiesse will last approximately 7 to 12 months (about 2 – 4 times longer than collagen). Radiesse contains no animal products and therefore requires no allergy test prior to treatments. One cc of Radiesse can treat about twice as many areas as 1cc of traditional collagen. Radiesse is also often more natural appearing and feeling.

Frequently Asked Questions about Radiesse®

What is Radiesse®?

Radiesse® volumizing filler is an injectable dermal filler composed of smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-soluble gel. Immediately upon injection, Radiesse® volumizing filler restores volume and fullness to diminish the signs of aging in the face and hands.

The cosmetic results are soft and natural-looking, and feel like your own tissue.

Because it is not animal-derived, Radiesse® does not contain any animal proteins, reducing the risk of allergic reaction and animal-based disease transmission. Radiesse® does not require pre-injection testing for allergies.

How does Radiesse® work?

Collagen formed around CaHA microspheres

Radiesse® volumizing filler is injected into the skin in a minimally invasive procedure. Injection of the product provides an immediate smoothing and lifting of wrinkles and folds.

Over time, the gel is absorbed, and fibroblasts, the collagen-producing cells of the skin, appear. The process of neocollagenesis begins, stimulating the gradual growth of your own collagen. The collagen that forms, results in longer-lasting, natural correction.

Eventually the CaHA microspheres naturally degrade and are removed by the body’s normal processes.

How long does Radiesse® last?

The natural, youthful results may last a year or more in many patients.

Where can Radiesse® be used?

Radiesse® is used in the face to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds and marionette lines, to restore fullness to the cheeks, to provide lift to the brows, or to add volume to depressed areas, such as the temples.

Radiesse® can also be injected in the backs of the hands to add volume and minimize the look of veins and tendons that prematurely age hand appearance.

What can I expect with Radiesse® treatment?

Treatment with Radiesse® volumizing filler is a quick, in-office procedure with minimal downtime. Prior to injection, Radiesse® is mixed with a small amount of a local anesthetic to minimize any discomfort during the procedure.

Radiesse® is eased under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away the wrinkles and folds on your face.

How long does the treatment take?

A treatment normally takes about 30 minutes, although time may vary depending upon the area being treated.

How soon will I see results?

With Radiesse® results are seen immediately and are long-lasting as the biocompatible Radiesse® works with your body to produce your skin’s own new collagen.

Are there any potential side effects?

Side effects may include slight bruising, redness or swelling at the injection site. In rare cases nodules may form under the skin.

Who should not use Radiesse®?

Radiesse® should not be used in patients who have severe allergies marked by a history of anaphylaxis or history or presence of multiple severe allergies. Radiesse® should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of its components. Because it’s mixed with a local anesthetic prior to injection, Radiesse® should not be used in patients with a history of allergies to lidocaine. Radiesse® should be used in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How much does Radiesse® cost?

Fillers are purchased by the syringe. The total number of syringes needed varies from person to person. On average a person needs between 1-2 syringes, depending on the treatment area. Please contact us for a more specific cost.
