Does SunMed care about Patient Experience?

SunMed values the feedback we receive from our patients. We share our positive survey scores and written compliments with our dedicated staff to reassure them in their daily efforts.
We continually review opportunities to improve the patient experience. By monitoring real-time patient feedback, individual departments are able to review their results and prioritize patient experience improvement objectives.

What does SunMed do to protect Patient Privacy?
As a patient of the SunMed Health Center, we realize the trust you place in us when choosing SunMed as your health care provider. We think it is of the utmost importance to protect and safeguard your personal information. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which is a complex body of laws that govern a variety of health care components, address two extremely important areas – patient privacy and the security of patient information.
The security of our electronic medical records is paramount. Our staff is continually educated on the importance of accessing only the minimum information required to successfully complete their job. We ensure that our server is protected from unauthorized access, securing the content.
As a patient, you have the following rights. You may:
- request restrictions on the use and disclosure of your protected health information
- request communication to a certain location or in a particular manner
- request a copy of and/or inspect your personal health information record
- request an amendment to your record if you believe your record contains an error
- request an accounting of disclosure
Your protected health information is used only for purposes of treating you, or as required by law.
What Insurance Does SunMed accept?

Why do I need to bring a photo ID and my insurance card with me to my doctor appointment?
Properly identifying yourself at the start of each visit helps us to protect you. While we get to know who our patients are, we are required to confirm the identity, insurance and contact information for each patient upon each visit to the SunMed. We greatly appreciate your understanding, as well as your help to ensure we continue to foster a save environment. Our focus is on protecting you and caring for you at all times.
Why do I receive a phone call before my appointment?
All patients receive a reminder phone call within 48 hours of their scheduled appointment. We do this for a few reasons. First, your health is important to us. We want to make sure you are staying healthy, and sometimes we can all use a reminder in our busy lives. By placing a reminder call to you before the appointment, we are able to anticipate the number of patients we will have arriving the next day. Should you not be able to keep your appointment time, we are able to offer your originally scheduled time to other patients who are also waiting to be seen.
